Internships

We are delighted to be able to offer internships to students in Year 12 as part of our unique industry internship programme.

Students in year 12 have the opportunity to pursue an internship one day a week through the year, through their Pathways curriculum. This is a key method of integrating the real world employment field, building soft employability skills, whilst studying the chosen curriculum options. Opportunities to interact with organisations and provide initiatives throughout the year set the school apart from the rest, and our students will be standout candidates for university and/or employment.

There are internships with organisations which are provided by FirstPoint and GEMS, parents at the school and internally based within school. Students are expected to apply with an application letter and resume before undergoing interview(s). Students are supported through the process by their Form Tutors, Heads of Year and the Director of Careers and Specialism. Currently we have a variety of internships with organisations related to fashion design, logistics, computing, law, technology, business, teaching and sports.

The internship programme is supported through the KHDA Rahhal 10X initiative, and FirstPoint is recognised as a lead school and pioneer in this region for industry links, as well as the GEMS Centre of Excellence for Digital Industries. Groundbreaking partnerships with Siemens, Noon, RIT and AUD have developed the foundations with discussions ongoing with a number of other global and local organisations.

Pathways

Students who are not on an internship have the opportunity to study careers-related learning, such as employability skills and developing their personal qualities to accelerate their personal development.

In addition to the choices you make to study for A Level. Each pupil will opt for “Pathways”. These are additional qualifications that will enrich your curriculum and university application. You will select your choice on your induction day should you be successful in your application to Sixth form.

An example of this year’s offerings are: the EPQ Qualification, Careers and employability skills, PE, Duke of Edinburgh, TEDx and Life Skills.
