Internship with Mirai

What advice do you give to a student who is about to start an internship?

I would say don't be afraid to ask questions, when I started at Mirai there were a lot of things that I didn't understand, such as terminology used or some of the topics they were being discussed. But because I was not afraid to ask questions I was able to understand all the new things I was being exposed to so it would make sense. This has accelerated my understanding of the levels of competency required when you’re working in industry.

Another piece of advice I would give to students starting an internship is to make sure you are gaining all that you can from the experience, take notes, ask questions, volunteer and offer you help all the time. This is a rare opportunity and you don't want to waste it so make sure to get all you can from it.

Also try to make a good impression make sure you do what is asked of you, show up on time, be polite. This will make it a better experience for you in the long run. The experience I am gaining has made me more confident and will put in me a stronger position when applying for university and future careers.
