University Destinations
In the last ten years, GEMS has enjoyed some of the best university acceptance rates of any international school. Our students have been accepted into 1050 universities in 53 countries. We're proud to say that includes 66 of world's top 100 universities.
FirstPoint Higher Education Applications
Once again our top destination was the UK and over 50% of our students applied to study in England, Scotland, Wales or Ireland. Our top destinations include UCL, Trinity College (Dublin), Bristol, Edinburgh and Manchester universities, with a significant number in the year group applying to the University of Oxford. We had offers from LSE, Kings College London, Birkbeck, Oxford Brookes and Birmingham universities and are proud that a record number of our students have been awarded scholarships as a result of their exceptional applications. The UAE is also becoming a popular destination for our students.
Our second top destination is Europe, with the Netherlands as a top choice. We have students heading to Amsterdam to study business, management and political science and one student successfully gaining a full scholarship to study business management at Cattolica, Lisbon. We also have a number of students successfully accepted to top universities in Italy including Polimoda. For the first time we have a student going to study in Poland, where they will begin reading Medicine this Autumn.
FPS students have also been crossing the Atlantic to begin their university careers in Canada at universities including Concordia, Fraser Valley and Ryerson.
We are extremely proud of each of our students and the record number of offers they received. 2023-24 will surely be another year of success for FirstPoint as we expand our alumni network further across the globe.
Preparing our students
These days, there's a lot more to a university education than obtaining a world class qualification alone. Here's how we prepare our students for university and the world of work:
- Development of employability skills: It's not just a degree employers look for. A GEMS student gains self-confidence, communication, initiative, team work and time management skills.
- Interest and experience in their future study courses: Have a look at how we prepare our Alumni for their university courses before they leave school.
- Improved career prospects: A higher education is a gateway to jobs in the future. Many organisations around the world employ GEMS Alumni. With tens of thousands of contacts all over the world, your child will find a connection wherever their career takes them.
- Development of personal and social skills: GEMS Core Values have been part of our DNA for over 55 years. With a GEMS education, your child will not just become a conscientious student, they'll also gain the confidence and independence to thrive at home, university and at work.
Whether we are lucky enough to teach your child for a few years or many more, the lessons they learn at GEMS will remain with them for the rest of their lives.
