WE ARE DEDICATED TO PROVIDING A NURTURING AND STIMULATING ENVIRONMENT THAT SUPPORTS EARLY YEARS DEVELOPMENT
At GEMS FirstPoint School, The Villa, Dubai, we recognise that fine motor development in the early years plays a crucial role in shaping the cognitive, physical, and emotional growth of every child
As part of our commitment to fostering personal success, we prioritise the development of essential skills such as hand-eye coordination, grasp, dexterity, and spatial awareness. These foundational skills are nurtured through a diverse range of activities that promote creativity, problem-solving, and independent thinking.
Whether children are engaged in drawing, building, cutting, or using hands-on learning materials, our approach is designed to help them strengthen muscles and coordination required for everyday tasks such as writing, dressing, and eating. We understand that fine motor skills are not only essential for practical tasks but also play a significant role in a child’s ability to express themselves effectively, develop confidence, and engage actively in their learning environment.
At GEMS FirstPoint School, we provide a rich and supportive environment, integrating fine motor development into a well-rounded curriculum, ensuring that our students achieve their developmental milestones and thrive as confident, capable individuals ready to embrace future challenges and opportunities.
Engaging Fine Motor Development Activities at GEMS FirstPoint
We incorporate innovative programmes such as Dough Disco and Squiggle Whilst You Wiggle into our Foundation Stage classrooms, making fine motor development an enjoyable and engaging experience.
Dough Disco is an energetic and creative activity where children use playdough to form shapes, stretch, squeeze, and roll to rhythmic music. This fun activity helps to strengthen hand muscles, improve coordination, and encourage children to explore their creativity.
Squiggle Whilst You Wiggle focuses on developing hand control through physical movement and drawing. By combining dancing, wiggling, and drawing with markers or crayons, children develop the muscle control and spatial awareness needed for writing and other fine motor tasks.
Both programmes are designed to make fine motor skill development fun, helping children enhance their dexterity, build confidence, and foster a love for learning. Through these activities, our students develop the essential skills that form the foundation for future academic success, all while having fun and expressing themselves creatively.
